GREEN COUNTY CHEESE DAYS ANNOUNCES 2008 AMBASSADOR

Green County Cheese Days is pleased to announce that Charity Rood has been selected to serve as the ambassador for the 2008 festival.

Ms. Rood, the daughter of Gene Rood and Tammie Wilde and the granddaughter of Robert and Lillian Rood, is a native of Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 2000, where she was involved in student government, as well as sports including softball, basketball, and swim team.

Ms. Rood attended UW Stevens Point where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. She recently graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, with a degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic.
The inspiration for her chosen profession was resulted from hearing local chiropractor Dr. Bill Spontak speak at a health fair back when she was in high school. She is currently completing a post-graduate internship at Waunakee Chiropractic, and will receive her license next year following the state board exam.

In addition to looking forward to developing personal relationships with patients and using her training as a chiropractor to help them feel better, Ms. Rood is also looking forward to using her people skills people to invite people to attend Cheese Days. Her history of wanting to be involved with the festival dates back to running for Cheese Days princess two times. She didn't get the title, but she was awarded "Miss Congeniality."

"This is a great chance to promote a great area, and I want to get people excited to come to Monroe," says Ms. Rood, who is looking forward to riding the float in parades next summer. As Green County Cheese Days ambassador, Ms. Rood will make many appearances to promote the event, and will serve as spokesperson for the
festival in radio and tv commercials. However, the part that puts a big smile on her face is the thought of getting the Cheese Days visitors onto the dance floor in front of the stage. As a former waitress and bartender at Turner Hall of Monroe, she did the "Sunday Polka thing" every week, and learned all the dances.

Ms. Rood will officially begin her ambassador duties when she is crowned during Swiss Fest, hosted by the Monroe Swiss Singers at Turner Hall of Monroe on Sunday, November 4 at 2 p.m.
