GREEN COUNTY CHEESE DAYS INTRODUCES 2008 LOGO

In keeping with a time-honored tradition dating back to 1915, Green County Cheese Days will again feature a commemorative button to mark the 2008 festival. Cheese Days is pleased to introduce the new design by artist and graphic designer Kim Berg.

A native of Polo, Illinois, Berg ended up in Monroe when she drew a circle on a map extending out from her hometown and another circle surrounding Platteville, Wisconsin, where her then fiance, now husband was
attending college. At the time she was attending college and needed an internship to graduate. Monroe ended up to be in the middle of the two circles, and Berg was lucky enough to work at Canton Promotions under the direction of Mauro Magellan, the talented artist responsible for the 1996 and 2004 Cheese Days button designs.

As a child, Berg's parents fostered her artistic talents by arranging for art lessons and also encouraging other artistic outlets like 4-H. Berg graduated from Millikin University in 2001 with a degree in Fine Arts majoring in Graphic Design.

As a member of the in-house design team at Canton Promotions, Berg works with many creative projects. She has been involved in designing cheese labels, packages, point-of-sale items, promotional items, brochures, flyers, tri-folds, posters, and logos, and recently added web design.

2008 logoWhen Cheese Days "Festival Committee" member Jim Bruce approached Berg about submitting a design for consideration, she studied buttons from previous years to see what had and had not been done in the past. The components Berg chose to focus on were "Swiss heritage, obviously cheese, and everyone involved with the festival loves the courthouse."

Berg initially thought of limiting the design to fewer colors, but in working with the design eventually chose a color palette including seven complementary colors that she feels will reproduce well on a t-shirt or in any printed medium.

In addition to commemorative buttons and t-shirts, the design will also be featured on collector's limited edition stein; available for the 2007 Christmas holiday season.

Green County Cheese Days would like to thank Kim Berg and Canton Promotions for allowing them to have a wonderful design for the 2008 festival planned for September 19-21, 2008
